Styling Your Apartment on a Budget
Furnishing your new apartment doesn't have to break the bank.

- Facebook marketplace is a great place to find gently used home furniture and décor in a wide range of styles and for a fraction of what the items would have originally cost. Just make sure to always clean your newfound treasures before bringing them into your apartment!
- When you think of thrift store, you may think of the places you drop off all your old clothes, but they are so much more than that! If you want to find some unique pieces on a budget, thrift stores are where it’s at. Plus, they are a great place to find vintage dishware and artwork!
- Garage and yard sales are also a perfect way to shop for furniture and artwork. Look out for signs and postings starting in the spring. They don’t call it spring cleaning for nothing, and you could score big on some gently used pieces for a fraction of the original price.
- What your new furniture shipped directly to you? Check out stores like Target, Wayfair and Ikea for affordable and stylish pieces! Both have plenty of pieces and styles to fit your taste.
- Moving in with roommates? Split up the finding and buying of needed furniture and kitchen supplies over everyone. Set a game plan for styles and colors and divide and conquer. It will not only save money and help split up the costs, but it will also give everyone a sense of ownership over the shared spaces.
